Build up to the World Barista Championship and SCAA

Sunday, 1 March, 2015
The World Barista Championships are less than 2 weeks away!

The South African team is behind their Champion Ishan Natalie all the way. It has been a stressful couple of weeks leading up to getting Ishan's final delivery of coffee but as of yesterday morning it is out of customs and in the hands of Craig Charity who has roasted the first few test batches!

Mel (TheCoffeeMag), Craig Charity (Lineage Coffee) and Ishan Natalie (TriBeCa) taste the first espresso extraction of Ishan's freshly roasted WBC coffee.

The cheeky grins say it all! The coffee tastes amazing and Craig and Ishan are now focusing on fine tuning the roast to make sure ishan has the best possible chance of qualifying for that most-sought after semifinal spot.

Ishan is up against some tough competition and the atmosphere at the SCAA expo promises to be electric!

The WCE have just released the competition schedule and Ishan's WBC performance time is Friday 10th April at 08h55 (Seattle time), which is 17h55 SA time. TheCoffeeMag is planning a live screening of the event in conjunction with the Barista Guild of SA Chapters (KZN, JHB, Cape Town and PE) - stay tuned for more.
